Short answer: if your benefit is not on the table, it either pays on a different schedule or has ended. The federal carbon rebate, for example, has ended and shows as closed on the official calendar.

What Are CRA Payment Dates

CRA payment dates are the days the Canada Revenue Agency sends benefit and credit money to your bank account or mailbox. The CRA runs the tax system, so it also pays the benefits that depend on your tax return (child benefits, the GST/HST credit, the Groceries and Essentials Benefit, and several provincial credits).

Two big payments people call “CRA payments” are actually paid by Service Canada: CPP and OAS. The Canada Disability Benefit sits in the same group. This guide covers both so you do not have to open five different pages.

  • CRA pays: Canada Child Benefit, GST/HST credit, Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, Alberta Child and Family Benefit.
  • Service Canada pays: Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security (with GIS and Allowance), Canada Disability Benefit.
  • You must file a tax return every year, even with no income, for almost all of these to keep coming.

Full CRA Payment Calendar by Benefit

Each benefit follows its own rhythm. Some pay monthly, some quarterly, and some only a few times a year. Here is what each one looks like for the rest of 2026.

Canada Child Benefit (CCB)

The CCB is a monthly, tax-free payment for families with children under 18. The next deposits are October 20, November 20 and December 11. If you want the full breakdown, see our page on Canada Child Benefit payment dates. Some readers still search for the old name, so we also cover child tax benefit payment dates.

Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and the GST/HST Credit

The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit is a quarterly, tax-free payment for people with low and modest incomes. The CRA says it took over from the GST/HST credit in July 2026, with a 25% increase that stays in place for five years. Payments come four times a year (January, April, July and October). The next one is October 5, 2026. The official calendar also lists a GST/HST credit entry on October 2, so confirm which one applies to you in CRA My Account. Read the full explainer on the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit for amounts and eligibility. For the older credit, see GST/HST credit payment dates.

Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB)

The OTB combines three Ontario credits into one payment. You can receive it monthly or as a single lump sum. Monthly dates are October 9, November 10 and December 10. Details are on our Ontario Trillium Benefit dates page.

Advanced Canada Workers Benefit

This is an advance on the Canada Workers Benefit for low-income workers. The next advance payment is October 9. You can learn how the yearly balance works on our Canada Workers Benefit payment dates page.

Alberta Child and Family Benefit

Alberta residents with children receive this quarterly, and the next payment is November 27, 2026.

Canada Disability Benefit, CPP and OAS

The Canada Disability Benefit pays on October 15, November 19 and December 17. Our Canada Disability Benefit dates page explains who qualifies. CPP and OAS both pay on October 28, November 26 and December 22. Check the full schedule on our CPP payment dates hub.

Tip: 2027 dates are not published yet. The patterns repeat, but wait for the official calendar before you plan around a specific 2027 day.

How CRA Payment Dates Are Set

The CRA sets the dates in advance and publishes them on Canada.ca. You do not need to apply for a date or request one.

The monthly pattern

  • CCB: paid once a month, usually close to the 20th. Dates move earlier when the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, and December is paid early.
  • OTB: paid around the 10th of each month when you choose monthly payments.
  • Quarterly credits: the Groceries and Essentials Benefit pays in January, April, July and October.
  • CPP and OAS: Service Canada pays near the end of the month, and the exact day changes with weekends and holidays.

Direct deposit versus cheque

Direct deposit is faster and more reliable. The CRA issues these payments on the listed date, while a cheque has to travel through the mail. If your bank account details changed, update them in My Account before the payment date.

How to See Your Next Payment in CRA My Account

Your personal payment date can differ from a general calendar. The CRA My Account tool shows what you are actually getting.

Step 1 – Sign in

Go to the CRA My Account page on Canada.ca and sign in with your CRA user ID, a sign-in partner (most banks), or Interac Sign-In. Never sign in through a link from a text message or email.

Step 2 – Open your benefits page

Select Benefits and credits. You will see each program you are enrolled in, plus your next expected payment.

Step 3 – Turn on payment reminders

The CRA lets you subscribe to reminders. Choose email or text alerts so you know the deposit is on its way.

Step 4 – Check your direct deposit details

Confirm your bank account and address. A wrong address or closed account is the most common cause of a missed payment.

Which Payment Matters Most to You

Your situationMain payments to watchHow often
Family with children under 18Canada Child Benefit, child benefit datesMonthly

SeniorOAS, GIS, CPP (see OAS payment dates)Monthly
Person with a disabilityCanada Disability BenefitMonthly

So, the Canada Child Benefit is the most valuable CRA payment for most families, and the Groceries and Essentials Benefit is the one most people forget to plan for. Watch the monthly CCB first, then the quarterly ones.

10 Tips So You Never Miss a CRA Deposit

  • File your taxes every year. Even with zero income, filing keeps your benefits running and your income figures current.
  • Sign up for direct deposit. It arrives on the date with no mail delay.
  • Update your address quickly. A move without a CRA address change can pause your payments.
  • Report changes in family status. A new partner, separation or child changes your amounts.
  • Turn on My Account reminders. Email or text alerts tell you when a deposit is coming.
  • Keep your SIN and banking details private. Real CRA staff never ask for them by text.
  • Wait before you call. The CRA asks you to wait 5 working days after the date (10 for some programs) before contacting them.
  • Track it monthly. Write your CCB and OTB dates on a calendar and check the help page if something looks off.
  • Review your notice of assessment. It explains why your payment changed.
  • Check the official calendar. Dates on this site follow Canada.ca, and Canada.ca always wins if there is a difference.

What to Do If a CRA Payment Is Late

A late payment is usually a small problem with an easy fix. Work through this list before you worry.

  • Wait 5 to 10 business days after the date (the official calendar says to wait before contacting the program).
  • Check your bank account, not only your phone app. Some deposits post later in the day.
  • Sign in to My Account and confirm your payment status and bank details.
  • Confirm you filed your last tax return and that your spouse or partner filed too.
  • Call the CRA only after the waiting period. Prepare your SIN and your last notice of assessment.

Warning: The CRA will never demand payment in gift cards, crypto or e-transfer to release a benefit.

CRA Payment Scams and Rumours

Payment rumours spread fast on social media. The CRA has announced no surprise one-time payment for everyone. Our explainer on the CRA $2,000 payment rumour shows how to check any claim in minutes.

  • Unexpected text or email with a link. Do not click. Sign in to My Account by typing the address yourself.
  • Someone asking for your SIN, bank login or a fee. Real benefits never cost money to receive.
  • Threats or urgency. Scammers push you to act now. The CRA does not.
  • Carbon rebate claims. The program has ended. Read our page on carbon rebate payment dates for what is left.

If you already shared personal details, contact your bank and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
