CPP Payment Dates – Exact Day Your Deposit Lands (Oct 28, Nov 26, Dec 22)

Last updated: 2026-09-29. Your next CPP payment lands on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. After that, expect Thursday, November 26 and Tuesday, December 22. Payments go out on these dates, but cheques can take a few extra days to reach you.

MonthCPP payment dateDay of week
October 2026October 28Wednesday
November 2026November 26Thursday
December 2026December 22Tuesday

These dates come from the official Government of Canada benefits calendar (fetched 2026-09-29). They apply to CPP retirement, CPP disability, CPP survivor and the other CPP benefits paid on the same monthly schedule.

What Is the Canada Pension Plan Payment?

The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) is a monthly, taxable benefit paid to people who contributed to the plan while working. It replaces part of your earnings when you retire, become disabled, or when a contributor dies.

Service Canada runs CPP on behalf of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). You do not get paid by the CRA. The CRA collects contributions and taxes your CPP income, but Service Canada issues the deposit.

The 2026 maximum CPP retirement pension at age 65 is $1,507.65 per month. The average payment was $877.01 per month as of April 2026. Your amount depends on your age when you start, how long you contributed, and how much you earned. Confirm the current figures on the Canada.ca CPP amount page.

CPP is one of several federal payments. If you also receive Old Age Security, the dates match. See our page on OAS payment dates for the pension paid alongside it.

2027 dates are not published yet. Service Canada normally releases the next year’s calendar late in the year. Do not trust any site that lists exact 2027 dates today. Check the official benefits calendar after it updates.

How the CPP Payment Date Is Set

Service Canada does not pay CPP on the same calendar day each month. Instead, the deposit lands late in the month, and the exact day follows a business-day pattern.

The near-the-end-of-the-month pattern

  • In most months, CPP is deposited around the third-to-last business day.
  • October 2026 fits that pattern. The last three business days are Oct 28, 29 and 30, so payment falls on Wednesday, October 28.
  • November 2026 fits too. The last business days are Nov 26, 27 and 30, so payment falls on Thursday, November 26.

Why December comes early

December is the exception. The payment moves up to December 22 so it arrives before the holiday closures. September 2026 also came early (September 25) because of the September 30 statutory holiday. Always use the published calendar as the final word, not the pattern.

Weekends and statutory holidays

Banks do not process deposits on weekends or statutory holidays. When the usual date would land on one, the payment moves to an earlier business day. It does not move later.

Direct Deposit vs Cheque

Both methods use the same payment date. The difference is when the money reaches you.

MethodWhen you get itBest for
Direct depositEarly morning on the payment date, once your bank posts itAlmost everyone, it is faster and safer
Cheque by mailA few days after the payment date, depending on Canada PostPeople without a bank account

Service Canada says posted cheques may take longer than direct deposit. It asks you to wait 5 to 10 business days before contacting the program. So, direct deposit is the best choice for most people, because it removes mail delays and lost cheques.

To change your banking or mailing address, use your My Service Canada Account or the Government of Canada direct deposit service. Update it at least a month before the change takes effect, so a payment does not go to a closed account.

Tip – Bank apps often show the deposit as “Government of Canada” or “CPP”. Some banks post it the evening before. Do not spend it until it clears.

CPP Compared With Other Benefit Dates

Canadians often receive several payments a month. The federal calendar keeps them on separate days, so here is how the October to December dates compare.

BenefitOctoberNovemberDecember
CPP and OAS (including GIS and Allowance)Oct 28Nov 26Dec 22
Canada Child BenefitOct 20Nov 20Dec 11
Canada Disability BenefitOct 15Nov 19Dec 17
Ontario Trillium BenefitOct 9Nov 10Dec 10

The Old Age Security pension follows the same calendar as CPP. Read the details in our OAS payment dates guide. If you get the Guaranteed Income Supplement, see GIS payment dates too. For every CRA benefit in one place, use the CRA payment dates calendar.

If you live in Quebec, you pay into the Quebec Pension Plan instead of CPP. The schedule is different, so check QPP payment dates.

So, direct deposit on the published date is the best way to receive CPP, and the calendar is the best way to plan around it.

What to Do If Your CPP Payment Is Late

A missing deposit is stressful, but the fix is usually simple. Work through these steps in order.

Step 1 – Check the date and your bank

Confirm the exact date on the calendar above. Then check your bank account and pending transactions. Some banks post a few hours late.

Step 2 – Wait for delivery time

If you get cheques, wait 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before you contact the program, as Service Canada advises.

Step 3 – Check My Service Canada Account

Log in to My Service Canada Account and view your payment information and mailing or banking details. A wrong account number is the most common reason for a failed deposit.

Step 4 – Contact Service Canada

If the wait time has passed, call the Service Canada pension line or use the contact page on Canada.ca. Have your Social Insurance Number and banking details ready. Confirm the current phone number on canada.ca before you call.

Warning – Never give your SIN, banking details or online passwords to someone who calls, texts or emails you first. Service Canada does not ask for them that way.

If you receive a disability or survivor benefit, the process is the same. For CPP disability rules and dates, see CPP disability payment dates. For survivor and death benefits, read CPP death benefits.

10 Practical Tips for CPP Payment Day

  • Use direct deposit. It arrives on the payment date, with no mail delay or lost cheque.
  • Save the three dates now. Add Oct 28, Nov 26 and Dec 22 to your phone calendar with a reminder the day before.
  • Plan for December. The December payment lands a week earlier than a normal month-end. Budget for it.
  • Keep your address current. A moved household with an old address is the top cause of missing cheques.
  • Tell Service Canada about bank changes early. Do it before you close the old account.
  • Check your CPP statement each year. My Service Canada Account shows your contributions and estimated amount.
  • Set aside tax money. CPP is taxable, and you can ask Service Canada to withhold tax from your payment.
  • Compare it with your other income. Add OAS, GIS and pension dates to one monthly budget sheet.
  • Ignore unofficial date lists. Only the Canada.ca calendar is authoritative.
  • Wait before you call. For cheques, the official guidance is 5 to 10 business days.

Scam Warnings You Should Know

Fake CPP messages spike around payment dates. Scammers use urgency and fear because they work.

  • The government does not text or email you a link to “claim” or “release” a CPP payment.
  • No one from Service Canada will demand gift cards, crypto or e-transfers.
  • Do not open attachments from senders claiming to be about a “CPP bonus” or “extra CPP payment”.
  • Never share your SIN, banking password or one-time code over the phone or in a message.
  • When in doubt, hang up and call the number on Canada.ca yourself.

Note – Check every payment claim against the official benefits calendar. If a date or amount is not there, treat it as a rumour.

Final Recommendation

Mark October 28, November 26 and December 22 on your calendar, switch to direct deposit if you still get cheques, and treat the official Canada.ca calendar as the only source that counts. If a payment is late, work through the steps above before you call. Most delays are a wrong account, a moved address or a slow cheque.
